COVID-19 Testing
COVID-19 has undoubtedly changed the way we live our lives. One of the critical aspects of managing the pandemic is testing. COVID testing is an essential tool in identifying those who are infected with the virus, isolating them, and preventing further spread.
Express Health Urgent Care Centers provides testing and care to patients with COVID symptoms or exposure.
Types of COVID Tests:
There are two main types of COVID-19 tests: diagnostic tests and antibody tests.
Diagnostic tests are used to determine if a person currently has the virus. There are two types of diagnostic tests: molecular tests (PCR) and antigen tests. Molecular tests, such as the PCR test, detect the virus's genetic material and are considered the gold standard for COVID testing. Antigen tests, on the other hand, detect specific proteins on the virus's surface and can provide results in as little as 15 minutes.
Antibody tests, also known as serology tests, detect if a person has been infected with the virus in the past. Antibody tests can provide critical information on the prevalence of the virus in a community and help guide public health strategies.
Importance of COVID Testing:
Testing helps identify people who have COVID-19, even if they are asymptomatic, allowing for prompt isolation. Testing also provides critical data to public health officials, allowing them to make informed decisions regarding quarantine measures and community spread.
Express Health offers rapid antigen testing, which can provide results in as little as 15 minutes, allowing patients to receive prompt care and treatment. Additionally, we offer PCR testing, the gold standard for COVID testing, with results typically available within 24-48 hours.
Express Health Urgent Care Centers also offer telemedicine services, allowing patients to receive virtual care and consultation for COVID-19 symptoms. Telemedicine services help reduce the spread of COVID-19 by allowing patients to receive care without leaving their homes.
